Live online instruction or “synchronous teaching” provides faculty with opportunities to engage with students in dynamic ways while building a strong sense of community within an online course. However, this feat is not easily met – it requires intentional and sound instructional strategies that are planned before students arrive. During the “Maximizing Synchronous Time” workshop, Instructional Designer Joshua Rivera will show faculty how to effectively plan their synchronous sessions to maximize student engagement and learning.
