Instructional Designer
I am an energetic, enthusiastic teacher, trainer, and coach committed to infusing technology across curriculum by providing professional development to educators and supporting and motivating my students through experiential, inquiry, and project-based learning strategies. My professional career started as a multimedia instructor at the Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim, CA. There I was responsible for designing, developing, and delivering the after-school program's video production and web design curriculum. It was this experience where I realized I that I had a passion and skill set for creating engaging and challenging learning experiences for students through the use of educational technology.
With a commitment to serve under-resourced communities, I joined Teach for America (TFA) in 2008 and taught 7th grade Technology at Skirball Middle School in Watts, CA. While completing my TFA commitment I earned my Teaching Credential and Masters Degree in Digital Learning from Loyola Marymount University (LMU). After three years in the classroom, I became the Instructional Technologist for the School of Education at LMU where my role was to support faculty in the effective and appropriate implementation of instructional technology. I later assumed the role of Instructional Designer where my focus was to design and develop online courses and manage faculty training. I also taught courses on instructional technology to K-12 teachers within the Urban Education Department. I am currently an Instructional Designer at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business where I continue to design challenging, enriching, and innovative 21st century instruction in support of learning while addressing the needs of a diverse student body. I have leadership experiences in educational technology, teacher training, project management, and technology and curriculum committees. So, a little about myself…I am married to the most amazing elementary school principal on the face of the earth. We met while completing our Teach for America commitment and have since started a family that includes us, our daughter Daniela, and dog Wrigley. We enjoy going on road trips, trying new food, and venturing out on hikes together. |
